 Yo-Yo diets

How often have you thought of going on a diet only for several days or weeks, so that you get rid of the unwanted weight as soon as possible? Was this for an approaching special occasion, or was this because of a new piece of clothing you wanted to buy? In that case you've certainly wanted to lose the extra pounds just for a couple of days. And then all of a sudden, you've come across some new, fantastic diet, promising you fabulous results only for a week or two. Don't worry, you are far not the only one, and many people just like you have felt the same way, and have done the same thing. And that is how people usually start yo-yo dieting.

Yo-Yo dieting, also known as weight cycling, is the process of repeating rapid weight loss and weight gain. The principle of the yo-yo dieting is that the process of weight loss is successful at the beginning, but the dieter cannot keep the achieved weight, and soon after they loose the unwanted pounds, they start gaining these back. This is due to the unnaturally low-calorie nutritional plans of the most yo-yo diets

The worst thing is that weight gain is far not the only problem with the yo-yo diets. Many health problems could also occur as a result of a diet, that does not include vital nutritional supplements for human's organism. It is important to know, that in the first successful days of the yo-yo diets, it's not just fat that's being lost, but also muscle mass, and in the period of weight gain we tend to put on much more fat than muscle mass, so the end resault is that body's fat to muscle ratio is changed, and this is one of the important factors in health.

So, keep in mind, that what could seem like the perfect solution today, could damage your health and metabolism tomorrow. It is important to remember, that in order to effectively lose weight, you need to develop a sound dieting plan. It is recommendable not to lose more than 2 pounds a week. A proper diet would need at least a month to complete, but in this case you'd be sure that you don't lose muscle mass and water, but only fat.

It is essential to know, that dieting is always simpler than it sounds. You just have to make the decision and start achieving your goals.
